Located about 45 minutes south of Clear Creek Tahoe, this classic high-desert fishery is located on 2,000-acres of the Fairfield Ranch. It contains approximately three river miles of the West Walker River below Lake Topaz. Because our stretch receives the first water released from the lake, it will provide great year-round fishing associated with other tailwater fisheries.
Although our stream enhancements will not begin until irrigation flows cease in mid-October, our West Walker River Ranch already offers extraordinary fishing for large brown and rainbow trout. The water is best fished by drift boat and spot wading during July, August and September. However, when the irrigation flows stop in mid-October (and when the brown trout are spawning), we will have our best luck wading the various beats.
