Jim Taylor - Owner/Developer       email jst@clearcreektahoe.com

Jim has been a real estate professional since 1971. His business activities have been conducted principally through the American Capital companies. Since 1971, Jim has been instrumental in the acquisition, development and sale of approximately $10 billion in commercial real estate. His various companies currently own, control and manage a portfolio of properties in eight states, with a combined worth of over $900 million.

Jim’s early focus was the ownership and management of apartments and high-quality mobile home parks. In the early 1980s, he and Ed Kashian developed the first power centers in the country, using Costco and Home Club as anchor tenants. In 1997, Jim sold the balance of the mobile home park portfolio and redeployed the proceeds into properties in California and the Rocky Mountain West.

Jim’s current focus is the development of both mixed-use commercial and high-end, recreation-oriented residential properties. He is co-developing a 14-acre mixed-use project at the entrance to the Fairmont Princess Hotel in Scottsdale, and a mixed-use project on approximately 50 acres adjacent to Cal State Fresno. Jim was also instrumentally involved in putting together the investor team which purchased controlling interest in Big Mountain, a 4,000-acre destination ski resort in Whitefish, Montana.

Jim moved to California in 1963, where he finished high school, graduated from UCLA (cum laude) in 1969, and then continued his education at Harvard Business School. Jim resides in Santa Barbara, California, and Bigfork, Montana, with his wife Denise, his daughter Whitney, and his son Matthew. His grown sons, Michael and Jeb, live in northern California.

Chip Hanly - Owner/Developer       email chanly@clearcreektahoe.com

Chip began his career in construction and development in 1972. Since that time he has developed 60 communities and over 3,300 homes in California, Nevada, Arizona and Ohio with a dollar volume in excess of $550 million. In addition to the single-family homes, Chip has developed and built multi-family units (apartments and condominiums), professional office buildings, retail/shopping centers and restaurants, as well as a 135-room hotel which houses a restaurant and convention center.

Chip’s golf course roots date back to 1972 when he served on the construction management team that developed and constructed the Village Country Club in Canton, Ohio. He managed the development, construction and sales of 2,900 single-family and attached units as well as the construction of the 25,000-square-foot clubhouse.

During his career, Chip founded several successful companies for his numerous projects. He currently presides as Chairman of the Board for Syncon Homes, a Nevada corporation, and Syncon Homes, Inc., a California corporation. Chip is regarded as one of the West’s finest developers and home builders. His track record, energy and expertise in land development and construction are attributes that have not only made his companies successful, but which have helped the communities where he does business become better places in which to live.

Chip grew up in Solvang, California, and graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Business. Chip and his wife, Susan, live in the Carson Valley area of Douglas County, Nevada. Chip and Susan have three children, Brian, Donnie and Lauren. Brian and Donnie have joined their father in the business, thus carrying on the Hanly tradition.

The Carson Valley recognizes Chip as the single most influential developer/builder in the region, bringing in a new standard for design, land planning, development and construction with a strong emphasis given to detail in each of his projects.
